Kitchen & Bath

Home / Kitchen & Bath

A letter to our

Kitchen & Bath Enthusiasts

You are at the start to a rewarding home journey and I am so glad to be part of it! I’ll share with you my tips to a successful renovation and help you get inspired by past designs you can explore.

My clients almost always start thinking about renovations with the kitchen and bath areas in mind first. There’s something so special about a kitchen and what the right layout and design can do to lift you up and provide more opportunity to bring others into your home. On the other hand, custom bathrooms can be a beautiful sanctuary that gives you peace of mind at the start and end of every day. Let your imagination run wild, because there are so many special customizations we can do to elevate these two room types.

When you are ready to take the next step, please schedule an appointment so we can discuss the next steps into your very own home interior design. Happy exploring!

Sincerely, Tammi Loerop

Cherished Conversations

Gathered Around the Kitchen Table

You may have heard the saying, “Home is where the heart is.” Well, we believe it’s the kitchen that makes the heart beat. The kitchen is the foundation. It’s what starts our day over a cup of coffee or tea and where our family gathers around to have meaningful conversation. The kitchen never stops, which is why it’s so important to create functional beauty that captures the special ways it can be enjoyed amongst family and guests.

Kitchen Design Tips

Living through a kitchen remodel is not for the faint of heart. The experience will be messy, dusty, and inconvenient for several months. Here are some tips that will help you live your best life during construction.

Planning

Decisions and planning should be completed before construction begins, but don’t rush this stage. Kitchens are expensive! The functionality and long term benefits take time to plan and fully think through.

Expectations

Typically, especially in older homes, there may be unexpected issues that arise during the construction phase. Kitchen remodels usually include contractors from every trade including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry. Often, once demolition has been completed, there are issues found that aren’t up to code and must be repaired or brought up to code for future safety. Many professionals advise to cushion the budget for these types of unseen issues that may arise.

The Remodel

If possible, rent a home stay for the duration of the project. If friends offer their home to stay, consider accepting even if it’s just for a mini stay. It will feel good to get away and relax, stay out of the mess, and perhaps make meals to bring back home to freeze.

If getting away is not an option and you will be living in your home during the remodel, set aside an area in your home as a temporary kitchen. Preferably, this area will be close to a sink, perhaps in a laundry room or basement. Essential items in the makeshift kitchen include a microwave, coffee machine, fridge and a slow cooker. If it’s summertime, make use of your outdoor grill!

Details

Kitchens are complicated with many details, small and large, that will need to come together in the end to create the perfect space. An experienced designer is key to making sure your space is tailored to your needs. Their expertise allows the designer to think of every little detail that most people won’t consider until it’s too late. Corners, door swings, and clearances of pathways are just a few details that are carefully thought through in the design. These details, while seemingly small, can be detrimentally annoying later on if not addressed early in the design process.

A Custom Bath Is

A Bath Worth Investing In

Leave it to your custom and luxurious bathroom to make sure your hard work never goes unnoticed. Bathroom remodels are a way to add your personal identity to an essential room. Our bathroom remodel considers all aspects to bring the space to life: colors, textures, custom features, functionality, and more.

Bath Luxuries to Consider

Whether you are getting a jump start on your day or winding down for the evening, it’s important to feel good in your bath space. Explore our tips below to see what design functions you can do to enhance your bath experience.

Purposeful Storage

Functional items that aren’t pretty to look at should be stored in closed cabinets or closets. Creative open storage should be used for items of interest.

Mood Lighting

Mood lighting creates a spa-like experience atmosphere. You can achieve that by putting every light on a dimmer. While this lighting style is important, the need for optimal task lighting is equally important for those busy mornings

Installation Ideas

Soaker tub: creates the epitome of a spa-like experience.

Steam shower: allows further reduction of chronic stress, enhances restful sleep, and reduces congestion from colds and allergies.

Rain shower head and spray nozzles: offers muscle relaxation, skin care, and other health benefits.

Recirculating water line: is used as hydrotherapy by giving the ability to switch from cold to hot water immediately. This helps to relieve pain, anxiety, discomfort, and also creates ideal blood circulation.

Cozy Touches

Heated floors: creates a cozy, pleasant atmosphere on cold mornings.

Greenery: plants in the bathroom amplifies the design and aids in a more relaxing experience. If there is a green thumb in the family, consider a plant wall to incorporate into the plan.
